International Network

Since 2007 Active Communities Network has increasingly been involved in the international sport for development sector, providing a range of services including project delivery, needs analysis, training, conference presentation and evaluation. This has included our staff travelling overseas to deliver services, and acting as hosts for overseas projects and partners undertaking fact finding visits and exchanges in the UK.

In the case of Northern Ireland / Ireland, as well as South Africa, the volume and scope of work has led to us setting up branches of Active Communities Network, with local staff, to drive local partnerships, programmes and evaluations. Other work is time limited and often delivered on a contractual basis for our strategic and funding partners. Highlights of our work in this arena have included:

  • Developing an academically recognised curriculum for the Nobel Peace Prize nominated MYSA project in Kenya as part of our partnership with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation

  • Delivering needs analysis, developing bespoke training materials and delivering train the trainer packages as part of the Premier Skills programme – an international development programme owned by the Premier League and British Council – in India, Indonesia and Brazil.
