Mary Moyo, 20 years: an Eersteriver resident who describes herself as suffering from low self-esteem, was supported into the Positive Futures through outreach workers from Active Communities network.
Mary built her confidence and communication skills on the project through the use of cricket as a teamwork exercise and undertaking a series of training days and workshops. She became a regular attendee at sessions, and after participating in a leadership programme, continued to dedicate her time to any Active Communities Network project as a volunteer assisting in coaching and organising events. Her dedication was well noted and Active Communities Network awarded her a full scholarship to attend eta (Exercise Teachers and Training Academy) and study Sports Management.
Mary had dedicated all her time to making her stay at eta worthwhile, she volunteered continuously and worked extra hard to receive the highest achiever award in her class and be awarded a bursary for her 2nd year Diploma Course. Currently Mary is employed at eta as a General Administrator and Student Support
