Andrew Ngcaba

Andrew Ngcaba, 20 years old: a local Gugulethu resident with an ambition to make a difference in the lives of young people through his passion for sport, started studying at eta (Exercise Teachers and Training Academy) in 2008 as a sports management student after matriculating at Rhodes Memorial High School. His passion and drive to learn and work in the sports and community sector saw him seek out opportunities to work with young people, and soon he started volunteering with the Active Communities Network  and with the Cape Town Positive Futures project as a community coach coach.

His dedication to the project and hard work at college saw him being awarded with a bursary to complete his second year at eta. Andrew continued volunteering and became part of the small team that visited Eersteriver, Mfuleni and Khayelitsha weekly. After completing his second year, Andrew used his natural talent and pass ionfor youth development through sport to continue his studies at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), while continuing his involvement in the Active Communities Network Breaking Barriers Cape Town Project.

This dedication to study and work has opened the doors to the biggest opportunity of his life, receiving a full scholarship to study in Denmark from 2011.
